Biography:

Assi Al Hillani was born on the 28th November, 1970 at Baalbeck, Lebanon. This Lebanese singer has been singing since the early 1990's and has been a prominent figure in the music scene. Assi Al Hillani had his start at the tender age of 17, winning the ART Studio TV programme. Assi Al Hillani went on to release several albums, covering everything from traditional Lebanese dabke and Egyptian tarab to electronic and pop songs. Now one of Lebanon's most popular modern singers, Assi Al Hillani has performed at several festivals - from Jarash to Carthage. Assi Al Hillani is also well-known for his charity concerts and politically motivated and patriotic songs, such as Ba'dak Saket and Kheil El Arab. He has also held successful concerts throughout the Middle East, America, Europe, and Australia. One of the most dedicated modern singers, arranger Hadi Sharara was once quoted as saying "Assi and Najwa are the most hard-working singers I've worked with, they love what they do." He has won numerous awards for his work, most recently a Murex D'or for his 2006 album, Daggat Galbi. Assi's latest album, Yemken, was released in the winter of 2008 and is currently Rotana's bestselling Lebanese album (27/1 Rotana).
